Founded in 1991, The Friday Night Concert Series is a FREE, family-friendly event held on the Pedestrian Plaza in downtown Iowa City.  The event features live music performed by local bands each and every Friday night from the middle of May to the middle of September (excluding the first weekend of June for the Iowa Arts Festival and the last weekend of June/first weekend of July for the Iowa City Jazz Festival ).

While children climb on the playground equipment, a diverse audience of all ages and cultural backgrounds (whose numbers range from a few hundred to a few thousand people) come down to dance and enjoy the FREE music.

And remember, there are dozens of downtown restaurants  and a wide variety of food carts downtown,  so come hungry, fuel up, boogie down, and make a night of it!
